Throughout this year I think I was the most successful at the personal quilt assignment. It took everybody a while to complete this assignment. I had the hardest time with the graduation program assignment. The reason why is because I really didn’t have any appealing ideas. I could improve my work by making more time and effort into the assignment and creating better ideas.

Blowout and Panning

The iso was on 5000 and shutter speed was on a half a second. I think it was the best way because it came out good. I could've lowered the iso and created another blow out.
Shutter Speed

Shutter speed is something that allows a certain amount of light in. It was dark and we each had something that lights up (cell phone, ipod,etc.). This was actually fun because we learned something new. If we change the shutter speed then we want to do something more like movement. My favorite picture was when we created AYE... The E is backwards on purpose to add some flavor :)Thursday, April 22, 2010
Flash
Pros- it brings out the light in the picture.Cons- it doesn't allow you to see the full picture.
Use flash when you need more light and you don't want to see the true lights.
It's not a good idea to use flash when you have enough light and/or you want to see lights (ex: cosmic bowling)
Flash freezes time and allows you to see the actual light in the picture.
Metering
Metering measures the amount of light that needs to be taken in. In the first photo, the light meter is focusing on the computers light and in the second photo, its focusing on the persons light. It can help me in the future; if i need more light somewhere and I want it to be the emphasis then i focus on that first.Thursday, April 15, 2010
The Imprisoned
Interpret:While I was sleeping I dreamt of hanging from an airplane over the ocean with sharks in the water reaching for me. It's like I was trapped and had no way of getting out of the situation. I was lost and didn't know who I was and had to find out who I really am. The arms symbolizes the sharks trying to reach me. I am hanging on the robe showing how I will never give up and how I laugh at every situation whether its a good or bad situation.

Graduation Program

The strength of my work was probably my levels. I adjusted my levels really well. To the invitation i could've added something else to really embrace the effect. To the graduation program i could've chose some different colors. I think the invitation was the hardest because i really didn't have any ideas. The most important thing is getting your point across to others.

All of my ideas came from the present. Whatever I was thinking about at the time is where I started. My family is on my mind all of the time. Basketball and friends was one of my topics which I succeeded the most at. My decisions were the preeminent, but I know for sure I could’ve done an enhanced job. These quilts made me comprehend I came a long way. The past is tremendously diverse from the future quilt. It makes me pompous to see how much I have full-fledged. My favorite quilt will have to be inside me and the future quilt. The inside me quilt shows how open I am and caring of my family. I put them before anything else and that is what i wanted to show. My future quilt shows the team unity. We came together as a team compared to the beginning of the season. Not only do we win, but we have fun winning and its the best filling a person can have being apart of a sports team.Thursday, December 10, 2009
Artist Statement
My portfolio consists of my work I completed throughout this semester like my lyrics photo and family fix photos. In the portfolio, I will have many attributes in my photos such as: macro, layer styles, adjustment layers, etc. These photos showed how much I learned and completed during the semester. They actually make the photo more abstract and creative. As time goes on my work will improve exceedingly.
I feel as if I learned new things and challenged myself as a photographer not only to be creative, but to also improve my knowledge of photos. As the subjects got harder, I got even more focused. I put all effort into every picture which helped me learn easier. In my portfolio, you will be able to see the difference from beginning to the end of the semester. Even though I struggled with the social issue, you will be able to see that I put the effort into the picture. That was the most difficult subject so far and if I could do it again I would put more time and thought before using photo shop.
Over this semester, I learned that you can make nothing out of something. What I mean by that is the object you think wouldn’t fit inside a picture actually makes it better. I’ve seen improvement in the way I use the blending mode for the layer. It makes the picture look better and seem realistic. In the future, I could improve on adjustment layer and layer styles because those tool are the toughest for me.
I think I was most successful using the blending options to corrupt the photo. The 2 photos I liked the best that I took of my partner were the light shot (b&w) and the portrait photo. The 2 photos I liked the best that was taken of me were the surprise photo and the prop photo. She was very creative and I think she has improved the most in my eyes. I appreciate her patience with me.
This semester, taking this class was a lesson for me and I enjoyed taking pictures and creating new things. I learned that photos from different angles show the world in a different position. The world has more to it then just what people see everyday. Framing is something that leads the viewers to the emphasis which is extremely creative. In conclusion, my portfolio shows how much I learned even if the photo isn’t as good as others.

Personal Words
The lyrics i chose for this project were "Its more then a game This is a passion." " He has an assassins mentality." By Lil Wayne " This guy is highly motivated." and " Im goin for the ring." I chose these lyrics because its my senior year and I want to show everyone im focused and determined to win. Its my LAST chance as a basketball player to win a championship. I have to take advantage of the fact that I get no more chances after this season. Taking pride and getting the job done is my main goal. Its not a game anymore its all business.Friday, November 13, 2009
Social Issue: The Mask
In this photograph it shows two sides of me that many people see on a daily basis, but never know what my true thoughts are. There is one side that shows me happy which many people see everyday. The other picture shows my sad and distressing side that happens rarely. In bold red and black letters it says THE MASK.
My happy side is showing that nothing in my life is going wrong and I’m just living it to the fullest, but what people don’t apprehend that it may just be a show I’m putting on to prevent people from being concerned.
My sad and poignant side shows that things in life are going wrong and it seems as if nobody cares because they only see the mask and not my real attitude is towards life. I’m trying to confirm others that how it may seem like I’m happy but my true feelings are inside which I don’t like to show.
I want to express that some days are just horrible and I just want to be alone sometimes. In addition, many people are like this in the world and my point that’s the way it is with a lot of individuals. And, that’s our comfort zone and how we lever things is by being quiet and deal with things step by step. Handling things our way is our best benefit which will sooner or later lead to an enhanced content person. Overall, we have to face reality everyday because nothing is always going to go as planned we can fall, but ultimately we WILL have to get up.
“You can’t see the pain behind the mask”

Scary Effects

My favorite picture was the alien photo because it has more effects and it gathered my attention of learning new things.Tuesday, October 13, 2009
Critique
Standing in the middle of no where is a man watching a massive fire while carrying water that decant only onto him. Wearing an all black suit with an unknown feeling he stands in the dirt not revealing his face. The rough and ragged light above creates a thought that the fire is spreading immensely. It seems like he is going to endeavor putting the fire out with the water he's carying. The fire is leading to him which cuts through his black suit. This photograph shows the compassionate and sympathy of this mysterious man trying to prevent the fire from exceeding. It speaks thoroughly that this world isn't as bad as people tend to think. Some people are concerned.Thursday, October 1, 2009

Portrait

.jpg)
My most efficient photo in my opinion would be surprise because it shows emotion like someone is trapped and that is how I felt that day. To create artistic expression I thought of my peers in church how they prayed and worship GOD. I chose to use a dress shirt so she would look like a sophisticated hard working teacher. My surprise photo is unique because i'm usually happy and excited about being her, but that particular day was not amusing at all. Overall I feel great about my photos because I expressed myself throughout my pictures

Contact Sheet
The compositional trick i liked the best so far was simplicity because it gave me a different perspective on how insects and other animals see the world.I think I will start using macro more because i like the way it blurrs the background and puts your attention directly on the emphasis.
I didn't quite like rule of thirds because that doesn't match my interest. If I was interested in the subject I think i would've put more effort in it.
The photo i liked the most would be macro because it just gathered my attention on the way it works by blurring the background and makes you focus on the emphasis.

Compositional Trick #7 Drawing the light
Compositional Trick #5 Extreme Angles(BW)

This is a good compositional trick because it gives you the picture in a different angle and gives you a different view point of the world. Bugs/Insects and animals have a different standard on how they see the world. Extreme angles gives you a brief view of how they see it. These photos are accurate. The first one shows how a worm, ant, etc. views the world. The second photo could be better, but it does show how a bird or any creature that flies sees the world.
Compositional Trick #4 Simplicity (color&bw)

Simplicity brings you to the image looking at it in a different way. Its your main focus on the image. In my opinion, it doesn't necessarily mean boring it means creativity. It's an effective trick because your main focus is on the detail in the photo: shadows, angles, etc. I use simplicity on a direct object that many people don't visualize it as. I try to be creative in the best way possible.
